Panama Politics are a Pain
Summary
There are allegations of corruption in the current administration in Panama and numerous infrastructure projects have been out in place, but they are still yet to be paid for. In the upcoming 2014 election, current president Ricardo Martinelli of the Cambio Democratico party and current Panamanian Vice President Juan Carlos Varela run head to head. Varela has helped form the Front of Democracy which is a union of the three opposition parties in Panama that plans to show opposition to the current administration's actions. President Martinelli does not rule for the people, her rules to stay in power.
My Thoughts/Emotions/Observations
Panama has a constitutional democracy and should run their government that way. The people of Panama do not deserve to have a government that focuses a lot of its attention to its political parties when there is an upcoming election or one that cannot even come up with the moeny to pay for various infrastructure projects.
Article's Relation to Politics
Panama's government was designed to give its people power. However, the president they had elected is not governing democratically. Democratic presidents should do things that are beneficial to his/her citizens, not just for himself. The people of Panama are able to overthrow their government if they believe it is unfit, but it is not their type of government that is not working, it is the governing body.
